KTV Penang price guide: what a lounge night really costs

The short KTV Penang price answer: lounges rarely post a full rate card. Most set a minimum spend per room, often RM1,000 or more, then add a 10% service charge and SST. Bills range from about RM150–RM200 per person at V3 in Pulau Tikus to about RM3,000 for ten people at Haoman.

How much is KTV in Penang?

It depends on the room size, the drinks you order and how long you stay. You pay for drinks, a private room and close service, so a lounge costs far more than a café or a bar. If you are new to the idea, our what is KTV guide explains how a lounge room works.

Few lounges on our list post a full price list online. So the KTV Penang price table below gathers each lounge's sets, minimums and typical spend, as of October 2026. For any lounge without a figure, ask the venue when you book.

Unless the venue says "nett", assume these figures exclude the 10% service charge and SST. All-ages family karaoke chains also exist in Penang and cost much less, but this site covers only 18+ lounges.

How does minimum spend work at KTV?

A minimum spend is the least your group must spend on food and drinks in the room. If you order less, the venue still bills you the minimum. So it pays to plan your order to land just above it.

Most lounges in Penang work this way, so the room minimum is the biggest part of any KTV Penang price. The figure grows with the room, because a VIP room for twenty costs the venue more than a small room for four. Haoman (豪门) and Oriental KTV set the minimum by room. As a result, the best way to know the exact KTV Penang price for a room is to call and ask.

When you call, ask four things:

  • What is the minimum for a room that fits our group?
  • Does the minimum include the service charge and SST, or do they go on top?
  • How long is the room ours, and what does extra time cost?
  • Is there a deposit to hold the room?

How room, beer and bottle sets work

Some lounges skip the ringgit minimum and sell sets instead. A set is a bundle, usually a fixed number of beers, sometimes with snacks or a fruit plate. Each room then needs a set number of bundles. In other words, the set count is the minimum spend.

An example: Genesis beer sets

Genesis KTV Penang (创世纪) sits on the 7th floor of Midlands Park Centre in Pulau Tikus. It prices every room in beer sets, so you know the total before you sit down. Here is how its sets work:

  • A beer set from RM298.
  • Small rooms: one set for RM432.
  • Medium rooms: two sets for RM730.
  • Big rooms with a pool table: three sets for RM1,028.
  • The V6 room for about 50 people: six sets for RM1,922.
  • The VVIP V333 room: four sets for RM3,388.
  • Free extension from midnight to 3am, then RM150 an hour until 6am.

So a group of ten in a medium room pays RM730 in sets, before service charge and SST. That makes Genesis one of the easiest places to budget a KTV Penang price in advance.

Cartons and bottles

Other lounges count in cartons of beer. For instance, Tu Hao Lou (涂豪楼) on Lebuh Bishop sells Carlsberg cartons at RM618 each. A small room needs one carton, a medium room two, a VIP room three and a 5D room four. Bottle sets work the same way, but with a bottle of spirits and mixers in place of beer. Ask what each set includes, because two sets at the same price can hold very different drinks.

Service charge and SST explained

Almost every lounge bill carries two extra lines. First comes a 10% service charge. Then comes SST, Malaysia's sales and service tax. Since March 2024 the service tax rate is 8% on most taxable services, while some food and drink lines carry 6%. You can read the current rules on the Royal Malaysian Customs SST portal.

As a rough rule, add about 17–19% to any price that does not say nett. So RM1,000 on the card becomes about RM1,166–RM1,188 on the bill. Add these extras before you compare one KTV Penang price with another.

Deposits, extensions and other extras

Lounges often want a deposit for a big room on a Friday or Saturday. Deposit rules differ by venue, so ask the venue how much it is and whether it comes off the final bill. Also check these extras before you sit down:

  • Extensions: extra time once your session ends. Some lounges include free time after midnight, while others charge by the hour.
  • Corkage: a fee if a lounge lets you bring your own bottle. Many don't allow it at all.
  • Food: fruit plates and dishes usually count towards the minimum. However, ask before you assume.
  • Hostess service: some lounges in Penang offer it, and it is billed separately. Ask the venue how it works.

Worked examples: three lounge bills

These sums show how a KTV Penang price turns into a real bill. The first uses illustrative figures. The others use the lounge prices above. We apply SST to the subtotal plus service charge, which is how most bills stack the two.

Ten friends, a RM1,000 minimum (illustrative)

Say a lounge sets a RM1,000 minimum for a room for ten. If the group orders RM800 of drinks and snacks, it still pays RM1,000. After a 10% service charge and 8% SST, the bill comes to about RM1,188, or roughly RM119 each. If the group orders RM1,250 instead, the total is about RM1,485, or about RM149 each.

Ten people at Haoman

A night at Haoman costs about RM3,000 for ten people, dishes included. That works out to roughly RM300 each. Ask the venue whether the service charge and SST sit inside that figure or on top.

Eight people at V3

At V3 KTV on Jalan Cantonment, a night costs about RM150–RM200 per person. For eight people, that points to RM1,200–RM1,600 in total. Call +60 4-297 1608 to book a room that fits.

How to keep the bill down

The lowest KTV Penang price comes from planning, not discounts. Here is what helps.

  • Book the right room. A smaller room means a smaller minimum.
  • Agree the order first. Pick sets that land just above the minimum, then stop.
  • Go early. Arrive near opening, so you get the most hours for the same spend.
  • Ask about weekday deals. Some lounges run promotions on quiet nights. Oriental, for example, gives discounts to students and staff, so ask how much when you book.
  • Split the bill early. Agree how you will share the cost before the first round.
